Unrest in North Sulawesi caused campus activities to cease, and the teaching staff, mostly foreigners, including Dutch citizens, returned to their countries. This prevented the Department from reopening after security was restored in North Sulawesi and lectures were moved to Manado.<\/p><p>In 1969, the Department of Geography Education was reopened at the Faculty of Social Sciences Teacher Training, IKIP Manado based on the decision of the Minister of Education and Culture. In September 1984, the Geography Education Study Program was opened based on the Decree of the Director of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Culture Number 060\/Dikti\/1984 dated July Pergolakan di Sulawesi Utara menyebabkan kegiatan kampus terhenti dan staf pengajar yang sebagian besar adalah orang asing, warga Negara Belanda kembali ke negerinya. Hal ini menyebabkan Jurusan Pendidikan Geografi tidak dapat dibuka kembali setelah pemulihan keamanan di Sulawesi Utara dan perkuliahan dipindahkan ke Manado. Pada tahun 1969, Jurusan Pendidikan Geografi dibuka kembali pada Fakultas Keguruan Ilmu Sosial IKIP Manado berdasarkan keputusan Menteri Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan. Pada bulan September 1984, Program Studi Pendidikan Geografi dibuka berdasarkan SK Direktur Pendidikan Tinggi Departemen Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan Nomor 060\/Dikti\/1984 Tanggal 31 Juli 1984.
